New Startup Accelerator Supporting Diverse Founders Launched By UMSL

Recently, the University of Missouri St. Louis launched their accelerator program designed to address economic gaps in the region by “supporting startups founded by entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds.”

The program, called The UMSL Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Accelerator, will be providing $50,000 in equity-free funding in addition to mentorship and other benefits to the wining startups. The accelerator is seeking creative solutions, technologies, and business models.

“St. Louis has an opportunity to show the rest of the country what it truly means to amplify diverse founders with tangible, equitable, direct investments,” Dan Lauer, founding executive director of UMSL Accelerate, said in a video announcing the program.
