Recently, Kansas City tech startup, Kenzen, has been names as Product of the Year by Occupational Health& Safety magazine. In addition to the award, Kenzen has been able to raise $9 million since launching in 2014. Included in their products is the redesigned predictive body heat sensor system for industrial workers.

"We've had phenomenal success (with our pilots this summer), which has been gratifying because it's always a bit of holding your breath and being like, 'Is this going to work?' And it did. So far, we feel like we're tackling a big problem," Kenzen co-founder Heidi Lehmann told the Kansas City Business Journal.

Kenzen’s continuous safety monitoring solutions predict and prevent industrial worker injury and illness from heat, over-exertion, and fever. When workers are safe, everyone benefits. By continuously monitoring key physiological indicators, such as heart rate, over-exertion, and core body temperature, Kenzen is able to keep workers safe. Their products keep managers aware, with real-time, de-identified data that predicts and prevents heat-related illness and injury.

Additionally, senior management is kept informed, with broad risk management tools that aggregate, sort, and anonymize enterprise data. With Smart PPE that continuously monitors individual health markers end-to-end, Kenzen solutions help managers optimize environmental and workforce conditions while giving individual workers power to monitor their own physiological indicators.

"Building a base here is something that's always been a big goal of mine," the Boston native said. "Personally, I'm very excited to be in a community like Kansas City, which is on the rise and really taking off now in unprecedented ways."
