Tesseract Ventures, a Kansas City-based robotics startup, launched its first mainstream product on Wednesday, May 27th. This company that creates robots, smart spaces, wearables, and radically connected platforms, has developed a new tool to help in the fight against COVID-19.

Tesseract’s Prism provides a vital link to workers or students when used as a location tracking and monitoring solution on job sites, educational institutions, and more. This wireless, wearable, badge device will play a large role in keeping employees safe at work as the country’s businesses reopen. By using Prism, companies will have access to the data they need to take control of their work environment.

According to Tesseract’s website, “Used in conjunction with Tesslink Anchors, the Prism Tag becomes a location tracking and monitoring solution that can be applied to individuals and physical spaces. Each tag serves as a way to control site access, and define entry and exclusion zones within the job site. Additionally, Prism Tags can be used to track the proximity of individual workers in real-time, helping both management, and team members maintain safe social distance at all times.”

The prism works by collecting data such as location, duration at area, arrival and departure times, and much more. Then, the Mosaic Control system can be used for real-time reporting and alerts of employee location. This will help with proximity control and cross contamination reporting. Tesseract states that the Prism will “Get teams back to work faster by monitoring activity and providing alerts to workers in violation. The maps and data will help you better plan workloads and staffing strategies to minimize potential cross-contamination.”

In a recent Startland News Article, Tesseract founder and CEO John Boucard said, “This product exemplifies our mantra that there is nothing more human than technology and is a great example of what you can expect to see from Tesseract Ventures in the future.” Vice president of research and development for Tesseract, Dave Starr adds, “Not only is Prism a vital piece of technology for ensuring workers keep their distance from one another during this pandemic, it was originally designed to benefit industry operators by providing data to help them identify problem zones within a site. The capabilities of this product are endless, now and in the future.”

In March, Tesseract Ventures procured a $2 million investment from UMB Capital Corporation.
