MSU Libraries Innovation Lab Committed To Helping During The COVID-19 Pandemic

The MSU Library Innovation Lab is a collaborative idea studio with a focus on emerging technologies like 3D printing, robotics, and virtual and augmented reality. Through the Innovation Lab, Missouri State aims to foster innovation and research ties between academia and industry. Part R&D lab, part community makerspace, the Innovation Lab is a place for anyone to explore, experiment, and create new information in science, tech, and beyond.

Housed in the newly-renovated space in the lower level of Meyer Library are the technologies and equipment of the Innovation Lab. The Libraries Innovation Lab is bringing together interdisciplinary teams of students and faculty to create innovative emerging technologies solutions alongside enterprise partners, nonprofits, and government agencies. Both students and faculty are offered to use this space and its equipment free of charge. The Innovation Lab offers access to equipment that can be used to produce services such as:

●      Augmented Reality Hardware

●      3D Printing

●      Robotics

●      Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

●      Single Board Computers

The Libraries Innovation Lab is also committed to helping during the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, the Libraries Innovation Lab has been using CoxHealth and JVIC’s open source PPE design to provide face shields to the Springfield Police and Fire Departments, Jordan Valley Health Center, Lakeland Behavioral Health, the Springfield YMCA, Greene and Christian County Emergency Management, and others. So far, they have produced almost 500 units and plan to continue until they are no longer receiving requests.
