Sickweather is a free sickness forecasting and mapping app that allows you to check for the chance of sickness as easily as you can check for the rain. “Extending Sickweather’s illness forecasting tech to track and predict Coronavirus (COVID-19) risk factors is a natural cultivation of the Kansas City-based startup’s potential” said Laurel Edelman.

Sickweather is able to monitor social media networks, crowdsource through its members, third party partners and FDA approved medical devices, and use AI for indicators of illness. They provide real-time sickness alerts when you enter a sick zone, have a live map of illness across the country and allow you to share forecasts and reports with your friends. Members are also able to report 27 different conditions directly through the app.

Since the recent pandemic, Sickweather has adapted their app to include a COVID-19 score, similar to their usual daily SickScore, which shows the risk factor in the city of each user. Users also have the ability to report COVID-19 cases through the app.

“With no end to the pandemic in sight — and the possibility COVID-19 could make an annual return — the COVID-19 Score is likely to stick around” Edelman said. Sickweather is now providing a leading indicator of coronavirus predictions.

The Kansas City-based startup has been featured on Apple, ABC, Fox, Time, NBC News and more. Sickweather hopes to be at the forefront of public health efforts.
